Hey Arvada đź‘‹,
This is a bittersweet message for us to write, but one that comes with a lot of gratitude and appreciation.
We started What’s Up Arvada back in March of 2024, and building this newsletter has been one of the most fun and meaningful projects we’ve ever taken on. As two people who were born and raised right here in Arvada, this community will always feel like home to us. Getting to shine a light on local businesses, highlight events, and help connect people in the place that shaped us has been an honor.
What meant the most to us wasn’t anything big or flashy — it was the conversations with local business owners, getting to know neighbors we might never have met otherwise, and the steady stream of kind messages from readers. Hearing that the newsletter became part of your week, or that it made you smile or discover something new in Arvada, truly meant the world to us.
But life has been moving fast for our family, and we reached a point where we simply couldn’t give the newsletter the consistent time and attention it deserved. Instead of letting it fade, we wanted to make sure it ended up in the hands of someone who could keep growing it and serving Arvada well.
So today, we’re excited to share that What’s Up Arvada has been officially sold and will be taken over by the team at What’s Happenin’. They’re doing amazing things in the local-news space, and we feel confident that the newsletter is going to continue in great hands.
From the bottom of our hearts — thank you for reading, sharing, supporting local businesses, and being part of this community with us. This project was special because you made it special.
With gratitude,
Matt & Nicole
P.S. We’d love to stay connected. And if you ever have questions about newsletters, email strategy, or digital marketing, feel free to reach out anytime: [email protected]
A message from What’s Happenin’:
What’s Happenin’ is a Colorado-based local media brand that started in Boulder and has grown over the past year to cover Longmont, Fort Collins, and Denver. Their focus is simple: share local events, things to do, neighborhood highlights, and community stories — all with a commitment to keeping each city’s coverage truly local.
In addition to the newsletter, they also run a local website where you can explore upcoming events, discover new places around town, and take part in fun community features like polls, games, contests, and voting on favorite local spots.
As part of this transition, What’s Up Arvada will now become part of the What’s Happenin’ network, with the goal of continuing to serve the Arvada community while benefiting from a larger local media ecosystem and added resources behind the scenes.
